Stage 5 was from San Luis Obispo to Santa Barbara. I staked out a spot on the climb up San Marcos pass, Highway 154, just north of Santa Barbara. From San Marco Pass it would be a quick descent to the finish. From my spot you could see Cachuma Lake in the background.
