Monday, January 2 brought the first rain on the Rose Parade in 51 years. Why watch the parade in the rain when they have the floats on display for a couple of days afterward? Tuesday the 3rd was a more typical beautiful Southern California day.

My biking buddy and co-worker Dave invited me to go along with him and his neighbor Mark to Pasadena to view the floats. The kids were still off school but the wives had to work so it was the men's day to baby-sit. So I joined Dave and his kids Paige and Brent (on the left in the first group shot) and Mark and his kids Brittany and Andrew and we had a great time. You could see a lot of the water damage on the floats, especially bare spots where seeds and smaller things plants and flowers had gotten washed off (everything on the floats is organic), but as you can see, they were still magnificent.

Just wait until next year when I try to repeat!
