The day before the ride, looking up route 4 in the direction of Ebbett's Pass, near the junction with route 89 (which leads up to Monitor Pass). Note the % grade.
Near the top of Monitor Pass (8314') after climbing from Markleeville (5501'). See the snow on the peaks in the background:
Near the top of Monitor Pass again (8314') after having descended to Route 395 near Topaz Lake (5000') and climbed back up again. Check out the view:
Descending Monitor on the way towards that junction of routes 89 and 4.
About 1km from the top of Ebbetts Pass (8730'). There were some snow banks off to the sides of the road in the shady sections.
From Ebbetts Pass the ride drops into Hermit Valley (7100') where you turn around and climb back up and over. You then go back through Markleeville and climb the fifth and final pass, Carson Pass (8680'):
Carson Pass is at about the 108 mile mark. From there it 21 more miles (17 screaming downhill at 40-55 mph then 4 rolling) back to the start near Markleeville. Dan was just a little too late for the photo at Carson, but he completed all 5 passes also.
