Day 8: We hiked some and took the shuttle around to the various lookouts. I again had to spent part of the afternoon in bed. It was not so much that my sinus infection got really nasty (which it did) but that I was getting grumpy about being sick on vacation and I was getting on everyone's nerves. What can I say, I was tired. After all, I had done all of the driving, so those guys got to sleep in the car (which they did easily and often). Then at night I had to listen to all three of them snore, which deprived me of more sleep (and I have a recording of it as proof). It was good to have some peace and quiet in the room in which to nap.
I did get up in time to go see the sunset, and it was spectacular. I think the sunset pictures are some of my best. Certainly they are my most artistic. I ran into those guys on the shuttle bus back. They had missed the sunset to go have a great dinner with me instead. That was OK, I did not have much of an appetite anyway.
Cheryl and I drove out of the park that evening to go see a movie at this IMAX theater. The movie was not all that great but the show along the way was good. On the way there, an elk crossed the road in front of the car. It looked huge. We saw several deer coming and going, and on the way back, not very far from our lodge, we saw a full grown coyote.
