Who is LPrezdente?

Hi, I am Dennis Martin. Welcome to my website. Why is it called lprezdente.net? Let’s see, I used to have LPrezdente.com, but then I had a lot of problems with various hosts and registrars, and so I ended up with a .net instead of a .com.

I avoided that question just like a real Prezdente would. Seriously, where did the name LPrezdente come from? Well, it pays homage to former major league pitcher Dennis Martinez. Martinez played for 23 seasons, mostly with Baltimore and Montreal, compiling a 245-193 record and 3.70 ERA. He is the winningest Latin American pitcher in major league history. On July 28, 1991, he pitched a perfect game against the Dodgers in LA.

While it is EZ to see the connection between my name and his, how does that lead to LPrezdente? Dennis Martinez was so popular in his native Nicaragua they say that if he ever ran for office he would be elected president, so his nickname throughout his career has been “El Presidente”. LPrezdente was the closest derivative to it that was available, and there you have it. That is why I use lprezdente.net and why you can reach me at LPrezdente@hotmail.com. I also have not ruled out a run for President myself. I think I could do a better job than some of the bush leaguers we have had in the past.

There are two main purposes to this site: (1) to post the results and other information for the Greater Chicago Strat-0-Matic Computer Baseball League. It is a 20-team league which I run using Strat-0-Matic computer baseball software and (2) to post all of the photos I take with my digital camera. The only problem with digital is that, since you do not have to worry about developing costs, you can end up taking a lot of pictures. So try to pace yourself. The whole album can be quite overwhelming. Fortunately I have a web host that offers a lot of cheap space. If you are shopping for a host for your own personal website (not necessarily a business site with a lot of traffic, but a personal site with lots of storage space), the Globat.com gets a high recommendation from me.
